Russell Manners was a British Army officer. The fourth illegitimate son of Lord William Manners Russell Manners joined the Army as a cornet in the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards in May 1755 and became a captain in the 7th Dragoons in February 1758. In April 1760 he was promoted lieutenant-colonel of the 21st Dragoons serving in Germany under Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick.
