Biography:
was born in Killavil Co. Sligo in 1919. His father Mick a Fianna Fáil activist and former councillor was also a fiddle player and a contemporary of Michael Coleman. Fred was one of the most popular of the South Sligo musicians renowned for his wit and humour as well as his highly individual fiddle playing. Fred played with many musicians from the locality.
