Early life

He was born on 11 March 1953.

Political career

He was elected to the Provincial *embly of the Punjab as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) from Cons*uency PP-279 (Bahawalnagar-III) in 2008 Pakistani general election.

He was re-elected to the Provincial *embly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Cons*uency PP-279 (Bahawalnagar-III) in 2013 Pakistani general election.

He was re-elected to Provincial *embly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Cons*uency PP-239 (Bahawalnagar-III) in 2018 Pakistani general election.

Revocation of his university degree

On 13 December 2019, the status of Rana Abdul Rauf's Bachelor of Arts degree was decided after 11 years, with Balochistan University Quetta cancelling the degree.

Rao Asif Ijaz, the son of former MPA Rao Ijaz Ali Khan, who came second in the 2008 election against the degree of MPA Rana Abdul Rauf, had applied to the university for the issue to be reviewed, almost 11 years after the university administration accepted the forgery.
