Biography:
Lưu Hữu Phước was a Cochin-Chinese Vietnamese composer a member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Committee of Culture and Education of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He was originally a medical student the composing member of a trio with lyricists Mai Văn Bộ later ambassador and Nguyễn Thành Nguyên later a dentist in California composing patriotric songs in 1943. He was a posthumous recipient of the Hồ Chí Minh Prize in 1996.
