Jishnu Raghavan Alingkil was an Indian actor who predominantly appeared in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi films. He was the son of actor Raghavan, who also directed Jishnu's debut film Kilippattu, which was selected for the Indian Panorama.

Then he made a Leading debut in a blockbuster movie Nammal which was released in 2002 it became a successful movie for Jishnu. In 2014, he was diagnosed with cancer and died of cancer in March 2016 in Kochi. His last movie is Traffic which was released in 2016.

Early life and Education

Jishnu was the son of Malayalam film actor and director Raghavan and Shobha. He did his schooling in Chennai and later on at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Trivandrum. He also had achieved a best student award during his school days and he had a BTECH Mechanical engineering degree from the National Ins*ute of Technology in Kozhikode.

Personal life

He was married to his longtime girlfriend Dhanya Rajan, who is an architect. They got married on 2007 and she is also Junior of Jishnu Raghavan in their NIT Days.

Film career

Jishnu Raghavan a promising career, first appearing as a child artist in the movie Kilippattu in 1987. Then, he made his film debut in a leading role along with Sidharth in the movie Nammal directed by Kamal in 2002. This movie became a blockbuster and a commercial success. His performance in the film earned him the Mathrubhumi Award and the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Male Debut. He followed it with leading roles in Choonda, Freedom, Parayam, Two Wheeler, Njaan and a supporting parts in Nerariyan CBI,Pauran,Yugapurushan and a negative role in Chakkara Muthu. Following through with some unnoticed movies, he took a break from the film industry to work for developing information technology in rural areas. Then he returned to the film industry with the films Ordinary following which he had supporting roles in Nidra, Banking Hours 10 to 4 and a cameo appearance in Ustad Hotel. He also offered to act in Prabhuvinte Makkal which was released in 2012. Then, again he did lead roles in Annum Innum Ennum and Rebecca Uthup Kizhakkemala.

After Annum Innum Ennum, Director Rajesh Nair said that it had already grabbed eyeballs by its unique marketing. Now the actor Jishnu, who played the lead in the flick, informed us that he is overseeing the production of the flick. The actor, who had plans to start his own production house, says that as a prelude to his production dreams, he was doing a supervisor job for the film even though he was not the producer. The young actor said the team comprised a young crew, who were handpicked. Rajesh has made sure that the crew had promising youngsters. All of them were driven and were out to prove their mettle in the industry and it showed on the sets where everyone is so wired, he said.

He also did acting experiments with Barry John Theater Studios in Mumbai. In the same year, he signed for his upcoming movies Misfit along with Sidhartha Siva and iPhone along with Vineeth and his father and actor Raghavan and Indian Coffee House but these movies were not released in theaters. Also, he signed for the film Veerappa but at that time he was diagnosed with cancer in 2014.

Before his treatment continued, he completed his Tamil debut flim as lead actor in the movie Kallappadam, successfully along with Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, which was released in 2015; it received positive reviews.

During his first battle with cancer, his friends made a short film *led Speechless and dedicated it to him, and it has been doing rounds on the online space for quite a while. It was written and directed by debutante Jolly Joseph; it is about a college lecturer whose life has undergone a drastic change due to cancer. The film producer Shafeer Sait, who is also a friend of Jishnu, has the lead role in the short film.

He made his Bollywood debut with a Negative Role in Traffic which was released in 2016. He also acted in short films, notably Karma Games along with Aadarsh Balakrishna, which was shot in 2013 and released in 2017. It marks his debut in film direction and cinematography. Aadarsh Balakrishna had expressed his tribute to Jishnu by releasing this short film. Overall, Jishnu had acted in 25 films in 11 years of his experience.

Other Works

Jishnu was also responsible for developing IT in rural India through education and creating business opportunities there. He could establish 3100 Cyber Centers across India and had the wonderful opportunity to work in almost all the states of the country.

He was also a Member of the Rotoract Club in Trivandrum from January 1994 to Augusut 2001. He is a founder member of JJMAN in March 2003. It is like a social service that was started by a group of five film personalities to help and support various social service organisations across Kerala.

Prolonged battle with cancer

Jishnu was diagnosed with throat and lung cancer in 2014 and he posted that he just got recovered from cancer. By God's grace and your prayers, the surgery I had to go through was successful. I am back home now and recovering. The cancerous tumor was completely removed. For complete recovery it will take another six months, I guess. Thanks a lot for your prayers and support. Not many were aware of this until he himself posted these statements on 7 February 2014, and he believed that he had been completely cured of it. But his cancer returned in 2015.

He was undergoing treatment with alternative medicines with herbs such as Lakshmitharu and Mullatha, but his condition worsened. He died at the age of 36 after a prolonged battle with:cancer on Friday morning, 25 March 2016, at 8.15 AM at Amrita Hospital in Kochi.

Before his death, he did a final Facebook post to inspire everyone. He said that: "Being positive and always smiling makes a lot of difference." In his post he described how everything becomes better just by smiling; calling the ICU his second home, he said:

I started smiling at every situation now especially the nurses who take care of me... trust me it made a lot of difference... they do a tough job of treating pain and in ICU things are worse but by smiling and being jovial creates such a good atmosphere that everything just gets better ... it's magic ... smile is magic
