Alex MacLeod is an Independent politician and a former councillor on the Highland Council for the Landward Caithness ward. MacLeod was born and raised in Tain in Ross-shire and was taught through Gaelic at Tain Royal Academy. In the Scottish local elections 2012 MacLeod polled 550 first preferences and took the fourth and last seat in the ward with 756 votes accumulated. In December 2012 MacLeod was charged with alleged offences under the Representation of the People Act 1983.
