Morten Breum

Morten Breum (born 26 May 1982), better known by his artist name MORTEN, is a Danish DJ and producer.

His professional music career started with his first track ‘Højere Vildere’ with Rune RK, featuring the Danish duo Nik & Jay in 2008, but his track ‘Domestic’ in 2010 was his real breakthrough track, which reached No. 3 in the Danish Singles Chart. In 2009, he released his album ‘Drop!’, followed by ‘Nightclub Session’ in 2010. With a string of releases since then, MORTEN has made a real impact on the electronic music scene when he created the pioneering new genre ‘Future Rave’ with good friend David Guetta in 2019. An EP and several releases later, ‘Future Rave’ can now be heard on all of MORTEN’s shows as well as in the sets of many other DJs around the world.

Biography

MORTEN has kept his sound ringing through platforms across the globe, and has created new tracks in collaboration with David Guetta. The two close friends coined the ‘Future Rave’ genre, releasing a 4-track collaborative EP ‘New Rave’. Their Future Rave sound has garnered more than 400M streams across the board. MORTEN has gathered an audience of 4.7M monthly listeners on Spotify alone, releasing track after track with the Guetta-collab being on top 5 of the most played records in the world by DJs for 7 weeks. Last year, MORTEN entered the DJ Mag Top 100 as highest new entry at #39, and landed at #20 in the 1001Tracklists ranking. In 2022, his music video for ‘Dreams’ with David Guetta and featuring Lanie Garnder won Best Highlight Video for Clubbing TV’s Music Video Awards. 2022 will also see him play mainstage at EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland, as well as a residency in Ibiza.

MORTEN has performed at some of the biggest festivals worldwide including Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Sunset Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and EDC Orlando.

Future Rave

Over the past three years, David Guetta and MORTEN have been creating a new dance music culture with their ‘Future Rave’ sound. Emerging from their desire to play something new in their sets, the genre reflects their vision of the future of electronic dance music. Both David and MORTEN are inspired by the underground, and they have made it their trademark to bring sounds and formats from the underground and present it to the m*es. With Future Rave, the duo is bringing the elements of both the EDM and underground scenes together, while keeping the cutting-edge sound ever-evolving. Future Rave builds bridges between the energy and the hooks of EDM, the futuristic sounds of techno and the emotion of trance and (future) house.

David Guetta comments on their collaboration in a Billboard interview: “MORTEN came with this sound, and it’s so hard to find a new sound. Then I have more experience in making chords and melodies and structuring records, so it’s been really interesting to be able to kind of complete each other. I think what we’re doing doesn’t sound like anyone else. It’s really fresh and new and I’m so excited about it. DJs I play it for are excited about it too. I haven’t been excited about dance music like this for a long time.”

Hï Ibiza Future Rave Residency

On April 8th 2022, David Guetta and MORTEN announced that their Future Rave sound would be taking over the legendary island of Ibiza for the summer with an exclusive 18-week residency at renowned club Hï Ibiza.
